For retreat members who have skills to share there is the opportunity to stay after the retreat for one week to five months (visa and placement depending). These capacity building programmes are designed and facilitated by Marissa in conjunction with local organisations. We are in great need of doctors, nurses, psychologists, teachers and professionals experienced in working with extreme poverty.
Included in the retreat will be an induction, along with history, culture and language lectures. The retreat will equip you with local knowledge, basic language, resolve any misconceptions about the nation, enlighten you about the current state of development in and the issues they face and why. It is also an opportunity to see the most beautiful places in the country and help you to understand the cultural worldview and way of working…so you feel confident to being with your volunteering assignment.
For anyone wishing to volunteer at other times of year, there is a $500USD facilitation fee per person to cover the skill, effort, connections, time and expense it takes to organise and facilitate these initiatives.
